It has been a banner day! Mom rides the emotional roller coaster complimentary of an illiterate radiologist and then as if the day wasn't bad enough...
Mom & I decide after the doctor's visit that it would be a good time to get the tags for her 'new' (used) Honda Accord. The title just arrived and we had some free time so why not?!
It was as I was about to exit I-24 to Murfreesboro when I noticed some discrepancies. The title was from an individual owner and not the dealership for which she bought it (hint #1). The title had a different seller's name signed on the back then the person's name printed on the front (hint #2). The mileage listed on the title when the car was purchased in 2003 stated 125,000 miles (hint #3... and the biggest problem).
The odometer reading at that moment read 111,000 miles.
It took some screaming by my older brother, the police lieutenant, and a discussion on legalities before the dealership in Anniston, Alabama decided it would be prudent to take the car back and refund my Mom's money.
I get to drive the car halfway back to Alabama later in the week. Joy.
Any honest person out there have a good used Honda Accord they would like to sell us?
