Well today was the day. Mom has been fighting non-hodgkins lymphoma for the past 8 months and today was the day she found out about her condition. Are the cancer cells active or inactive?
Wish it could have been that straight forward.
This is by no means a reflection on the oncologist but rather the radiologist that wrote the report on her latest PET & CAT scans. The report was confusing. In a beginning paragraph it stated that there was some activity. In a second paragraph it stated there was no activity. So... which is it?
Needless to say when my Mother's doc left the room to call the radiologist to get a clarification... she broke down in tears. It took about 15 minutes for the radiologist's office to call back and say there was a mistake... there are no active cancer cells.
I'm not just saying this as a concerned son on the behalf of his distraught mother but I am also saying this as a son of a radiologist. GET YOUR SHIT STRAIGHT BEFORE YOU GO AND WRITE A CONFUSING REPORT ON SOMEONE'S CANCER RESULTS!!!
That was completely unnecessary. Thank goodness for my Mother's oncologist. He didn't take this laying down. He called the radiology group and chewed them a new one. By the end of the day he had a revised report signed by all radiologists on staff faxed & in her file.
