Remember when I said...

"If the opportunity arises I think I would make a pretty good RN?"

That is how I broke the news to my wife in the spring of 2005 that my no good company was eliminating my position. And I started a new chapter in my life.

One of my former bosses once made a comment to me, "All I have to do is give you a goal and you make it happen." I took her compliment and lived it by enrolling in an accelerated BSN/RN program.

I was able to manipulate my company into paying me for NOT doing any work (not even walking in the door). It was fairly easy since I hadn't written anything down about the systems I developed were saving them millions of dollars each year... AND THEY NEEDED WHAT WAS IN MY HEAD!!!

Twelve months later (translation: guaranteeing my yearly bonus... and a few more benefits the company did NOT want to give me) and I parted ways with the bastards. It wasn't easy since I had a little more than one more year to go in the nursing program. But my family and I survived and WE succeeded.

Graduation was May 5, 2007. I scheduled NCLEX (state boards) June 9, 2007. Today I received the news that I passed my state board!

I can officially refer to myself as a registered nurse.
