Singin' the Praises of Modern Technology...

With the recent changes in our extended family and the need to keep in closer touch with my mother in-law, my wife and I were in a dilemma.

We are in the home stretch financially with nursing school and the funds are thinning fast! We have no long distance on our house phone but we do have DSL Internet.

What's a poor student who loves technology to do?

Skype is an online Internet phone service owned by Europeans.

We went to their site, downloaded their free software, upgraded service by paying the annual fee (not monthly) of $30, and now we can call any phone in the US or Canada unlimited for a year.

So this goes out to my fellow nursing students who are trying to make it financially. Skype is a great inexpensive way to keep in touch with those living at a distance (just don't use it for emergencies... no 911 service).

Hope I saved you a buck.

Enjoy.
