iPod?!... Here iPod?!

Call it a misguided gift... call it not knowing my wife... whatever. Last year I bought my wife an iPod thinking she might like to use it as she commuted back and forth to work everyday.

It sat on her dresser for about a month after she opened it. I tried to get her interested in it by setting up an iTunes account for her. No dice. I tried showing her how to use it in the car. Again, no dice.

So with her permission I started using it to upload my recorded lectures to listen in MY car. Yeah. Go ahead. Accuse me of giving her a gift just so I could have an iPod. But I SWEAR that wasn't the intention.

You're giving me that look of disbelief.

After using it for an entire semester I became rather attached to it. Once the Camry died I had to start toting it around (rather than conveniently leaving it in a car). And it was the last couple of hairy weeks of fall semester when it came up missing.

I searched high and low for the darn thing thinking it fell down in the couch or got misplaced in the house somewhere. Once finals week came and went without it turning up I started thinking I lost it in someone's car (from bumming rides back and forth to school) or I lost it at school (which I had little faith in seeing it again).

Another theory I had was that my oldest got his little hands on it (as he has been known to do such things) since he too has an addiction to all things gadget (like his father). He has been known to order movies on the satellite system (the wife and I don't order movies... and nobody has ever shown him how to do it).

Two days before school started I drove up to school to post a reward sign on the department board in the hopes that one of my theories was correct and I could recover it.

Tonight my wife walks into the kitchen as I am unloading the dishwasher... WITH THE iPOD!

"Where the hell did you find it?"

"Under a pile of YOUR crap!"

"Oh man! I am so happy to see it again."

"Try cleaning your side of the bedroom and maybe you won't lose it again."

Point taken.

She so enjoyed telling me that.

  1. Hee hee! Glad the iPod is found! I only have myself to blame for missing stuff. Somedays I don't know if that's good or bad! Congrats, anyways.

  2. Just like my DVR, computer, Palm PDA, TV, and DVD player, I can't figure out how to use the damn thing. I gave my son one and my husband one. They use it, but when my husband tried to buy me one, I it was too hard. Big congrats on the car "Mad Sam Rogers". Got to love the Honda.

  3. Well, thank you both for the good wishes you sent my way.

Not to sound sexist here but maybe Steve Jobs (Apple's CEO) should double check to see if women are included in the product development teams. It took me a few days to get used to how it operated but if there is a whole segment of the population out there not feeling good about it... Apple is probably missing something.

    Oh well.

    Too much thought probably.

    Thanks again.

  4. I lost my ipod ear buds. If you find them, tell them to come home!

  5. I cannot live without my podcasts in the car .... medical minute ... vital signs .... NPR health and science. Not to mention that I can listen to the Rent soundtrack and the Backyardigans in quick succession ... too cool for school!

Also, I happen to be, ahem, female and had no problem operating the video ipod out of the box.

:) Hope classes are starting out great!
