It has been suggested to me by more than one faculty member that this fall I consider getting a PDA for clinicals.
So now I'm shopping around. This is right up my alley (so to speak) and I would LOVE to get a Phone/PDA but the data service fees are WAAAAAY out of my poor budget. So I am sticking with a plain old PDA.
If you are using a PDA and would like to make suggestions I would greatly appreciate it. I have about two weeks before I will need to get off the fence and buy one.
This is a request for advice on both hardware (PDA) and software (Drug Guide, Drug Interactions, Nursing Dx/Interventions, etc).

ReplyDeleteI have the Palm TX (a REQUIREMENT of being a nursing student in my program)
I found a guy on ebay who was selling a TON of nursing software in a bundle. Now that Ive had it awhile and through clinicals, I use Tabers and my drug guide the most. I love it. I was ticked about having to buy it-but it is so worth it. My hospitals all have WiFi and I use that a lot too. The calendar is invaluable and I can show off my kiddies at school because it holds pics and MP3s also. Palm has an awesome website that compares the various models they sell. Also a helpful tool when youre searching for the right one.
2F4P,
ReplyDeleteI can't recommend which PDA to use, as I'm still swimming in pre-reqs, but I can recommend a site that might help with your decision. Visit the allnurses.com forum on PDAs at http://allnurses.com/forums/f234/. There is a ton of information that should help you out.
The hub and I were just talking about this. It would be great not to have to slug out the drug guide all the time. Let me know what you find out.
