To Infinity & Party City & Target & Wal-Mart & Big Lots & Beyond!

I just returned from my mother's house.

Our three year old has decided he wants a Buzz Lightyear birthday party. So I spent the day shopping for invitations and party supplies. It didn't take too long to determine that Toy Story is considered old news in the retail world. There are no Buzz Lightyear party supplies in Murfreesboro.

Makes you wonder. Disney has a Buzz Lightyear cartoon on cable and all of our son's playmates LOVE to watch the show. Whenever I drop him off at daycare all I see is a bunch of 3 year olds with arms straight out to their sides as they run around the room screaming, "TOO INFINITY AND BEYOND!"

The lack of merchandise has to be due to some bean counter sitting in a corporate office crunching numbers saying something like, "There has been a TRAGIC dip in Buzz Lightyear sales from 1 billion last year to only 999 million this year... we can't survive if we keep that stuff on our shelves... DUMP IT!"

I don't have much patience for corporate types. My last job was in the corporate world. I once had a boss who was in control of a 2 million dollar budget. She once had me spend a whole 8 hour day researching why one of her accounts would not reconcile... it was off by a nickel! So the fact that Buzz is a favorite amongst all the three year olds we know AND party supplies are no where to be found doesn't surprise me.

So why were you at your mom's house Too Fat?

I went over there to create my own Buzz Lightyear invitations. She has lots of great graphic art equipment from her days as a photographer. Don't tell Disney, okay?
