'The Last Temptation of Christ' Part Deux?

You might have read an earlier post where I mentioned The Da Vinci Code. In it I mentioned there was a church in Murfreesboro that is using the book as a teaching vehicle.

Well, today I passed by what might be considered the nemesis church of the first one. Their sign actually uses the word blasphemous in its description of The Da Vinci Code. It might as well have said, "BOOKS SUCK!"

----
And now I must share the funniest prank I've EVER heard played on a church and/or Christian bookstore: About twelve (or it may have been fifteen) years ago an acquaintance of mine went out partying one Saturday night, got very drunk... and hysterically creative.

As he made his way back home he passed by a well known Christian bookstore that was just down the road from a well known church. Both establishments used signs with interchangeable lettering. He decided to have some fun. After some thought he climbed the church sign and borrowed a few letters.

He then modified the Christian bookstore sign to read, "F*CK YOU SINNERS!"

Anyone familiar with Murfreesboro can probably figure out which bookstore church goers had to pass by in order to get to church that Sunday morning. It took all of one day for the bookstore owner to drag his cheap store sign around to the back lot and NEVER use it again!

I'll try and get a digital pic of the blasphemous Da Vinci message tomorrow as I go drop the kiddos off at day care.

Hmmm... that sounds like a good idea for a series of postings. Maybe?!

My Week Just Keeps Getting Better
Okay. I'm still in the whole acceptance part of mourning my abbreviated school break (read previous post). And now I'm trying to deal with the after effects. Specifically, the fact that I tried to save some mullah by purchasing my textbooks online.

It has been a mix of purchases from eBay and their sister site, half.com. Most of my books have arrived but I am experiencing a lull in deliveries that are making me nervous.

My instructor is reporting that I will have to pass a clinical math test immediately. Thus the problem with the whole book thing. My Intravenous Infusion Therapy book has not arrived. I sure hope it gets here by Monday or I'll be killing a tree with a classmates book and the library copier.

On a Brighter Side
I managed to find the last 'kit' to make a Buzz Lightyear cake in Murfreesboro. Now I just need to track down an action figure, party decorations, and we can put this little adventure to bed!
