Well the nap thing just didn't work out. I've been having the most terrible time returning to a normal sleeping pattern since school let out (for this 3 week break). I theorize that I've been so used to the adrenaline of 'study, study, study-take a test' cycle that now my body is having difficulty adjusting.
The wife and I actually had the time to attend a dinner party Friday night. We enjoyed ourselves. It was nice considering we've had to turn down about 5-6 previous invitations in the year due to our crazy schedules.
We were able to visit with some old friends and some new acquaintances. Of which was a couple that recently moved to town.
My faux paux came about when I somewhat innocently broken the long standing social rule of not discussing (1) religion or (2) politics at a party. Specifically I mentioned the recent trouble the HUD secretary has found himself in for either denying an anti-Bush contractor business OR lying about denying an anti-Bush contractor business... hehe!
That is when the couple chimed in. And it was interesting to hear them admit about how disappointed they have become with the Republicans. The wife mentioned that she thought there was a grassroots effort out there to form a third party.
Now I respect them for their views and appreciate their honesty about losing faith in their Grand Ole Party. But I must add my own two cents too.
Yes. Power corrupts and Democrats are no different than Republicans in this regard. Anyone who disagrees with me does not know their history. BUT what is so much fun (for me at least... and I suspect other Democrats as well) is that the Republicans have held themselves up for so long as being above the fray, moral, and untouchable by corruption that it is ENTERTAINING to see them try and wiggle around their lack of scruples.
The Republicans have been in control of Congress for over a decade. They have been in control of the executive branch for six years. It is hysterical to see grown men and women still use the "its the Democrats" excuse for their failures and lack of 'morality'.
Its like being back in grade school when the smaller kids finally reach their limit and overpower the class bully. Boy is it fun watching the Republicans come tumbling down.
