It shouldn't surprise anyone that in a state where road building takes precedence over education that a good portion of Tennesseans believe Bill Frist is a great man.
My introduction to Mr. Ego occurred when he was invited to be the commencement speaker at my college graduation. Guess what the topic of his speech was?... go ahead.
We had to sit through more than an hour of "You too can be as great as Bill Frist". It was an hour of listening to a billionaire talk about how he picked himself up from his rich boot straps to make something of himself. And we could do the same thing if we only tried as hard as he did. This was not an inspirational speech by any stretch of the imagination. There was no creativity. It was a chronological account of his upbringing and "hardships" he faced as a poor little rich boy.
I guess it shouldn't have come as too much of a surprise. The man is a surgeon after all with an ego to match.
By the end of his speech I was looking for someplace to empty the puke out of my graduation headgear.
You can imagine how much I am enjoying the unmasking of Frist with the latest news. It isn't selfless acts that drives this guy. Its greed.
