So the boys were enthusiastic about breakfast this morning.
Cake is the perfect breakfast food. It contains eggs, milk, & flour. Stands to reason one can serve it to one's children as breakfast (in a pinch). Right?!
Don't worry. They also had fruit, yogurt, and milk to drink.
This reminds me of an old Bill Cosby routine where he served his kids cake for breakfast... and suffered the wrath of his wife!

Sounds like a well-balanced breakfast to me! =)
ReplyDeleteNow if only someone could package freshly baked cake deliciousness in a portable eat-as-you-drive form.... there's a breakfast of champions! (Or, you know, also suitable for nursing students on the way to 0645 clinicals.)
I agree, cake for breakfast won't hurt anyone. The pictures of your cakey family are great!
ReplyDeleteDecades ago I briefly shared a house near MTSU, in your fair city, with the pre-med and nursing students from The Farm. (FYI: A huge hippie commune that I didn't belong to, but I had some friends who did.)
One of the pre-nurses gave me some grief about my son and me having cake for breakfast. She implied that I should have made pancakes instead.
These people didn't eat eggs or dairy, so the receipe for cake and pancakes was the same, except the cake wasn't covered with sorgum or whatever syrup was in the house.
You could actually see the light bulb going on in her head.
That's one of my favorite Bill Cosby routines ever!
ReplyDeleteHey, cake isn't any worse that a donut...sometimes it's really fun to do things like that.
The only difference between cake and a muffin is the shape of the portion.
ReplyDeleteMuffins are breakfast food...
So let them eat cake, as Marie Antoinette so famously said.
And if you feel guilty, just make sure there is raspberry filling....
